Grounding
Grounding is mentioned in almost every QHHT session I facilitate. Some people have been advised to exercise more, while others should go for a walk outside and spend more time in nature.
We need to practice being more in the present moment and in our bodies. Most people have a bad energetic habit of being out of their bodies. It takes practice to break the habit of being ungrounded.
There are different visualizations you can do to be grounded. You can listen to guided meditations for grounding or just simply imagine roots emerging from the soles of your feet and extending deep into the earth. Allow your feet' roots to absorb water and nutrients, and then feel that energy goes up to your legs and into your body. Feel the strength of your imaginary trunk firmly grounded to the earth.
Another effective grounding technique is called “5-4-3-2-1”. It helps in getting back into the body and is especially helpful in dealing with anxiety. Start by bringing your attention to your breathing, and taking deep, slow breathes. Notice FIVE (5) things you can see in your surrounding area. FOUR (4) things you can touch near you. THREE (3) sounds you can hear. TWO (2) scents you can smell. ONE (1) flavor you can taste.
Here are some other simple practices you can work into everyday life:
Be barefoot on the ground outside as often as you can.
Concentrate on your breath, counting your inhalations and exhalations.
Rub the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet together.
Hold an object in your hand and really bring your full focus to it
Be in nature and in contact with the earth as much as possible. Go for a walk in the woods and sit under a tree or hug one, sit on a rock, or in the grass.
Eat something fresh or drink spring water.
Walk briskly, run, dance, or do some yoga. Exercise always brings us back into our bodies.
Try a grounding/earthing mat.
A lot of research about grounding was done in the last thirty years that shows evidence of a powerful and positive shift in the electrical state of the body and the electrodynamics of blood, and a boost to self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms.
